Final Production

Dear examiner, please find below a copy of my opening sequence.

I am going to analyise some parts of our production and explain some of the techniques that we have used and what effect they have.

  • One effect that we used is called 'Grey Scale half and half'. This helps give our piece a darker effect in order to portray that somthing bad is going to happen. In the first scene our main character has just woken up, this effect also helps to give a dazed feel to the production.
  • When filming our production we also told the actor (Toby) to move slowly and look dazed. This along with our greyscale effect helps to give the audience the impression that somthing isnt right.
  • A final effect that we used was slow motion (02:36). In this part of the film he has just picked up a gun. This slow motion effect gives the audience time to take in what is happening and trys to make them feel like they are actually there.
  • We deciede to finish our piece with a slight cliff hanger. This was an attempt to keep our audience interested and want to continue watching.

Evaluation Question 4

This is my fourth evaluation question, it is also in the form of a video interview.

Evaluation Question 3

What kind of media institution might want to distribute your media product and why?

Our media production is most likely to be
released in smaller, independent cinemas in our local area (Oxford). I have done some research and found a few of these independent cinemas in Oxford. One example is the Phoenix Picture House. This is located on Walton Street. I think that this would be an ideal location for a screening of our production as it mainly shows more independent and smaller films. It also shows films that are for more of a niche market.
Another independent cinema in this area that I think would be keen to distribute our product is The Ultimate Picture Palace in Cowley, this is a similar type of cinema to the one mentioned above. I think that this would also be an ideal place to screen our production.

The media production is also going to be advertised in-between programmes on the television. I think channels such as Channel 4 would be a good institution to distribute our product as there are some programmes with similar representations to ours, for example Top Boy. This means that they will probably have a similar target audience to us.

I think that posters in magazines are also an extremely effective way of distributing a media product. One example of a magazine that may want to distribute/advertise our production is NME. This magazine appeals to a similar target audience to our production (15-20 year old males and females) which means that both audiences would be attratced to our production.

Evaluation Question 2

This is my second evaluation question, it is in the form of a powerpoint presentation.
